STOCK/LIVESTOCK CLASSES
9am – 1pm

Class 28 - ORPHAN/PET LAMB SHOWING
You may qualify to take your Lamb to Ardingly in June

Conditions
1.  Entries restricted to lambs born after 1st January 2009.
2. Stock to be judged on inspection.  The animals must have been reared by the exhibitor up to the date of the show.  Ear numbers and dates of birth must be supplied at the time of entry.  No substitute entries can be accepted.
3.  Judging will be on control, management in the ring, condition and show turnout, NOT on breed points.  The judge will be looking for good animals, reared well.  The judge will question the exhibitors on the rearing of the animal.  Grooming on the showground may only be carried out by the exhibitor.  Any infringement of the above may lead to disqualification.
4.  Exhibitors will be required to wear white coats or breed uniforms whilst parading their lambs.  Deputies will not be permitted.  All stock to undergo veterinary inspection on arrival.
5. Records of rearing are to be made available on booking in at the YFC stand on the morning of the Show.
6.  As per current DEFRA ruling.

Class 29 Junior, 30 Intermediate, 31 Senior – CHICK REARING
Competitors to rear two one-day-old chicks and keep a diary.  The two chicks will be judged at the show for conditions. Scale of marks: diary = 50%, condition of chicks = 50%.

Class 32 Junior, 33 Intermediate, 34 Senior - SHEEP JUDGING
First, second and third in Jnr., Int. & Snr. Class will go on to Ardingly.
Competitors will judge and give reasons on a ring of  lambs.  The lambs will be judged as butchers’ lambs.

Class 35 Junior, 36 Intermediate, 37 Senior - SHEEP JUDGING FOR BEGINNERS     
This class is for members who have never entered Sheep Judging before.  Competitors will judge and give reasons on a ring of lambs.  The lambs will be judged as butchers’ lambs.

Class 38 Junior, 39 Intermediate, 40 Senior   - DAIRY CATTLE JUDGING
First, second and third in Jnr., Int. & Snr. Class will go on to Ardingly.
Competitors will judge and give reasons on a ring of 4 Holstein Friesian cows.  The cows will be judged according to commercial milk production standards.

Class 41 Junior, 42 Intermediate, 43 Senior - DAIRY CATTLE JUDGING – BEGINNER
This class is for members who have never entered Dairy Cattle Judging before.  Competitors will judge and give reasons on a ring of 4 Holstein Friesian cows.  The cows will be judged according to commercial milk production standards. 

Class 44 Junior, 45 Intermediate, 46 Senior – BEEF CATTLE JUDGING      
First, second and third in Jnr., Int. & Snr. Class will go on to Ardingly.
Competitors will judge and give reasons on a ring of 4 either Sussex Heifers or Aberdeen Angus heifers.  The cattle will be judged as butcher’s beasts.

Class 47 Junior, 48 Intermediate, 49 Senior – BEEF CATTLE JUDGING - BEGINNER 
This class is for members who have never entered Beef Cattle Judging before. Competitors will judge and give reasons on a ring of 4 Sussex Heifers.  The cattle will be judged as butcher’s beasts. 

Class 50 Junior, 51 Intermediate, 52 Senior – PORK PIG JUDGING
First, second and third in Jnr., Int. & Snr. Class will go on to Ardingly.
Competitors will judge and give reasons on a ring of 4 pork pigs (for butchers’ trade).

Class 53 Junior, 54 Intermediate, 55 Senior – PORK PIG JUDGING – BEGINNER
This class is for members who have never entered Pork Pig Judging before.  Competitors will judge and give reasons on a ring of 4 pork pigs (for butchers’ trade).
