CHOBHAM YOUNG FARMERS – A STORY

A boy of 10 approaches a member of Chobham Young Farmers at Cowpie Country Show and asks “What do Young Farmers do?”

The reply was “We do everything but, why don’t you find out by being a member!”

After looking at the competitions in the ring and the lambs in the livestock tent he asks the same boy “How do you become a Young Farmer?”



The Young Farmer member says “You have to pay a small fee, go on night-hikes, visit farms, go caving, learn new skills, play games, enjoy ice-skating, make friends, watch lambing, milk cows and much, much more – only then will you be a true Chobham Young Farmer!

The next year the same boy is standing by the side of the main ring at the Cowpie Country Show preparing to compete in a team race and surrounded by his newly acquired friends.

He feels a tug on his sleeve; a small girl asks “What do Young Farmers do?”

The reply was “We do everything but, to find out, you have to be a member and it’s certainly worth joining!”
